Wes Bitters Wes Bitters

Wes Bitters, the former director of the Center for the Advancement of Leadership is retired from Utah Valley University where he taught for 25 years and served as Hospitality Management program director, and Business Management department chair. He has 12 years of experience managing country clubs, hotels, and restaurants. His hobbies include traveling, visiting his grandchildren and enjoying the outdoors. He and his wife, Bonnie, have seven children.

Chuck Cozzens

Prior to returning to Utah a few years ago, initially as the Regional Director of the Small Business Development Center located at UVU, and then transitioning into teaching college full time, Chuck had spent over 20 years working in the corporate world. His work experience has been in the fields of investment and commercial banking, hospitality/tourism, commercial real estate development, management training and development, and consulting. He has worked throughout the U.S. from offices in Los Angeles, New York City, Minneapolis, Billings, Seattle, Chicago, and St. Louis and in Southeast Asia. In the non-profit field Chuck has spent several years as the Executive Director of an international, humanitarian organization focusing on the training and development of entrepreneurs in Third World countries. He grew up in a family business-now in its 55th year of operation- in Northern Wyoming and had started and ran three successful businesses of his own by the time he entered college. In the public service arena, Chuck has served as a State Legislator and in 1984 was the Montana Republican Nominee for the United States Senate.
Scott Hammond Scott Hammond

Scott C. Hammond is an associate professor of business management at Utah Valley State College and currently the assistant academic vice president in the Office of Academic Affairs. A nationally known consultant and speaker, Scott has recently published over 30 academic articles with current research in dialogue, management education, and faculty development. In the summer of 2006 Scott created two video case studies at Johnson & Johnson for McGraw Hill. He has facilitated over 50 strategic planning processes, with clients including the National Park Service, The Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, The Visiting Nurses Association of America, Johnson & Johnson, Monsanto and others.

In 1980s he worked as a reporter/producer for two Salt Lake Television stations. Some reports aired on Nightline, and World News Tonight, and Good Morning America. He is currently host and producer of the Utah Business Boardroom (KUEN-PBS), a Telly Award winning program about Utah Business Entrepreneurs.

Recently Scott consulted for the Department of Electrical Engineering at BYU and the College of Professional Studies, University of San Francisco. Scott has been the lead consultant on best practices in adult learning to Johnson & Johnson Corporation eUniversity (J&J has an annual training budget of 250 million USD).He worked for four years as a development consultant for the Los Alamos National Laboratory, creating training for scientists on career development and diversity. At UVSC he worked with colleagues to created a faculty development program for the School of business which has been the subject of three presentations at Western Academy of Management, The Academy of Management, with forthcoming publication in several academic journals. Bruce Jackson

Dr. Bruce H. Jackson

As a practitioner and student of applied human performance technologies, Dr. Jackson is dedicated to the ongoing development of individuals, teams, organizations, and communities.

Searching for the common denominators of performance, Dr. Jackson has worked with and coached young athletes, inner-city children, and Fortune 500 companies alike—recognizing that the principles of personal excellence and performance are as valid for the aspiring student as well as the well-established CEO or public servant.

Dr. Jackson  holds three Master’s degree’s (Psychology, Business Administration & Organizational Development) and a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems where his research identifies many of the core components and strategies that people use to search for and replicate their “peak experiences.” Dr. Jackson also a past certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association and Professional Ski Instructors of America.

Dr. Jackson is a member and past chapter President of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), Member of American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP), winner of the Sigma Xi research grant in psychology, and a member of Manchester’s Who’s Who.

Dr. Jackson is the co-author of Optimal Performance in Tennis: Mental Skills for Maximum Achievement in Athletics and Life, Author of Sports for Life: The Fruits of Play and Competition for the Young and the Young at Heart and other professional publications.

Dr. Jackson currently serves as the Director for The Center for the Advancement of Leadership at Utah Valley University—a leading organization in the study of youth and adult leadership development. In addition Dr. Jackson also directs the C. Charles Jackson Foundation, the focus of which is to promote leadership, character, and life-skills development for students of all ages.

As writer, speaker, author, consultant and coach, Dr. Jackson’s core interests are to help individuals seek their capacities while fulfilling meaningful life missions.

Dr. Jackson and his wife, Marta, with six year-old son, Blake, and two year old son Lucas, currently live in Highland, Utah.

Susan Madsen Susan Madsen
Dr. Madsen is an Associate Professor of Management and the Assistant Dean of Faculty in the School of Business at Utah Valley University. She is also a leadership and change consultant. She loves to teach, research, write, and also enjoys her involvement in various service assignments and activities.

Susan R. Madsen has been at UVSC since 2002.

Bob Rasmussen Bob Rasmussen

Bob Rasmussen is the Assistant Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students at UVU. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Phoenix, a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University, and is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at the University of Utah. Bob's passion is student leadership development. He is the co-founder of Leadership Etc., a training and consulting company providing training seminars on all aspects of leadership development. He presents on leadership, leadership development and a host of other topics to students and professional groups across the nation. Bob has been at Utah Valley University since 1991 and is responsible for the following areas: Student Life, Outdoor Education, Volunteer and Service Learning, Student Media, Student Leadership, Student Union, Judicial Affairs, Student Health Services, the UV Leader Mentor Program and Orientation. Bob and his sweetheart Kristie have four wonderful children and reside in Sandy, Utah.
