HONORS GRADUATION CRITERIA
To receive distinction as an Honors Graduate, entering Freshmen admitted to Honors should complete a total of 21 lower-division Honors credits in their first two years. Depending on the degree program, students should then complete between 12 and 18 upper-division Honors credits and an Honors Thesis or Project prior to graduation. Transfer and Continuing students admitted to the program should meet with the Faculty Director. All Honors students are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.40. FRESHMAN / SOPHOMORE (GENERAL HONORS) 21 CREDITS: • Both Ancient and Modern Legacies (6 credits) • Honors Ethics and Values (3 credits) • A Science/Quantitative Honors General Education Course (3 credits) • Two Additional Honors General Education Courses (6 credits) • Three Semesters of Honors Colloquium (3 credits) To receive distinction as an Honors Graduate, entering Freshmen admitted to Honors should complete a total of 21 lower-division Honors credits in their first two years. JUNIOR / SENIOR (UPPER-DIVISION HONORS / DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC): Either Honors Minor / Concentration, 18 CREDITS (minimum): • 3-6 credits research / thesis (creative, etc. ok, but need theoretical supplement) • 12-18 credits from approved Honors Minor (Approved Examples: Philosophy, Astronomy, all IDST, …), or program of study worked out with student and Honors Faculty Director / Honors Faculty Advisor or Discipline Specific Honors: • 6 research / thesis credits (creative, internship, etc. ok) • 6 upper-division Honors credits (up to department whether in or outside of course of study) Example: Philosophy: 6 Honors thesis, 3 Honors philosophy seminar, 3 elective (Honors interdisciplinary) x |
