THE HONORS PROGRAM
The Honors Program at Utah Valley University provides opportunities for students to realize academic, professional, and human potential. Open to highly motivated students pursuing any associate or baccalaureate degree, Honors offers small courses with outstanding faculty featuring innovative classroom approaches, experiential learning, cultural events, and unique social gatherings. Students from all majors may pursue an Honors degree. Through Honors, each student can chart a customized program of study most suited to their post-baccalaureate plans. OPPORTUNITIES Graduate and Professional School Preparation: Honors graduates are well-prepared to apply for graduate and professional schools due to the many opportunities offered for original projects and research in the studio, lab, and field. Intensive interaction with faculty also fosters professional and career mentoring. Honors Colloquium: Unique in Utah, the Honors Colloquium is a one-credit course that includes cohort-building activities introducing students to the breadth and depth of Honors education and the wider world of cultural and outdoor opportunities available to them near campus. Many activities are complimentary to Honors students and may include guest speakers, field trips, outdoor recreation activities, discussions, and community or campus service and leadership projects. Mentoring and Advising by Faculty Director and Program Coordinators: An experienced Faculty Director and Program Coordinators assist students in planning each semester’s schedule, integrating Honors courses into their schedules, and connecting them with academic departments.
