Sandra CapellFoundation Accountant Sandy has served as the UVU Foundation’s accountant since 2003. Prior to that, she spent five years as business manager for the Utah Manufacturing Extension Partnership and served as senior accountant for grants and contracts for the Business Office. Sandy is a proud 1983 alumna of UVU. She earned degrees in accounting and business administration, Sandy and her husband, Dan, have two sons and four grandchildren. She enjoys gardening, fishing, hiking, skiing and having fun with the family. |
Joanna CoxAdministrative Assistant, Institutional Advancement Joanna has served in her current role since 2001. Prior to coming to UVU, Joanna worked at the University of San Diego Bookstore for 15 years. Joanna and her husband, Norm, have 14 children, 42 Grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her hobbies are spoiling grandkids, snowmobiling, fishing, crocheting and reading. |
Kathy JohnsonOffice Specialist Kathy has worked at UVU for nearly eight years, including six as full-time administrative support in Institutional Advancement. She is responsible for donation deposits, donor records, Web meeting minutes and general office duties. She holds an associate’s degree from BYU. She has been married to Jeff Johnson for 31 years, has five children (two of whom graduated from UVU) and eight grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, puzzles, old movies and spending time with her grandchildren. |

Bill BridgesDirector of Major Gifts Bill joined UVU in January 2003 as assistant dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences and moved to Institutional Advancement in 2008. Bill was born in Coffeyville, Kan., but grew up in San Francisco. An accomplished percussionist, Bill spent his early years playing in jazz clubs and hotels prior to moving to studio work for selected network programming, commercials and Capital Records in Los Angeles. Bill swapped the music scene for a career in financial services, where he spent 24 years as a successful bank executive. Upon selling a company he owned in Utah, Bill was appointed president and executive director of the North American Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point, where he directed the creation of the world’s largest dinosaur museum. Bill completed his bachelor’s degree and master’s of public administration at BYU. Bill and his wife, Elaine, have 11 children and 38 grandchildren. |
Ali JohnsonDevelopment Officer Ali joined UVU after retiring from 30 years in the craft and fine art industry. After the death of her sweetheart, Greg, last May, Ali felt it was important to find a spot where she Ali has three children and four grandchildren. Jim EricksonDevelopment Officer Jim has served as donor steward for one year. Prior to his current appointment, Jim oversawn community relations and business development for IMAX Theaters in Salt Lake City and Seattle, Wash., and worked as a liaison with Salt Lake County and IMAX Corp. Prior to his time at IMAX, Jim worked for the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Committee, where he oversaw spectator services as operations director. Jim received a bachelor’s degree in marketing at University of Phoenix and a Master of Business Administration (emphasis in marketing) at Shaftesbury University in England. Jim met his wife of 24 years, Valerie Vernon, at UVU. They have one child, who currently lives in Holland. Jim’s interests include golf, biking, racquetball and attending Disney theme parks as often as possible. |
