Building the Dream at UVU The new School of the Arts at UVU offers vibrant degree programs in the departments of Art & Visual Communications, Dance, Music, and Theatrical Arts. Our students thrive as they engage in the classroom and studio, in the community, in gallery exhibits, on stage, and in varied performance venues. Our faculty provide rich opportunities for students to engage in art-making processes. The Woodbury Art Museum enhances the curriculum for departments and programs across campus, as well as brings nationally acclaimed exhibits such as The DaVinci Experience to the region. The academic year 2008-2009 brought generous gifts from community members with the addition of four Steinway grand pianos for the Music Department and a new Noorda Regional Theatre Center for Children and Youth for the Theatrical Arts Department. The Noorda Theatre will be completed this summer and will premiere Charlotte’s Web in September. We invite you to come and celebrate the inaugural performance of the Noorda Theatre. Also of note in 2008-2009 was the return of Summer Theater to the Eccles Stage at Sundance by means of a partnership between Sundance and the School of the Arts Theatrical Arts Department. This year UVU, in partnership with Sundance, will present The Fantasticks, July 31 through August 22, on Mondays, and Thursdays through Saturdays. We hope to see you up on the hill to share the magic of theatre in that majestic setting. For nearly a decade, the need for a Center for the Arts has been in discussion and planning. The UVU Campus Master Plan has already identified a site for the Center directly west from the new Library. We continue to move closer to building the new Center for the Arts, which will be the academic home to our more than 1200 students majoring in various arts disciplines, and to the Woodbury Art Museum. Interim Dean Kathie Debenham said recently, “The Center for the Arts will become a gathering place for both campus and community, where people come together to appreciate and celebrate the wonderful depth and liveliness that the arts bring to life.” Join the grassroots effort to raise awareness for the Center for the Arts on Facebook |
